Hello, my name is Carson Babich and this is my blog. A little about myself, I was born in the blue-collar city of Windsor, Ontario in 1989 and was raised in the small town of Cottam, Ontario. Growing up I have always been inquisitive, from the young years of wondering how tractors worked in the fields behind my house, to studying atlases and maps leading to success in elementary school geography challenges.
Along with being inquisitive, I enjoy athletics. I have been playing sports my whole life ranging from hockey to soccer, basketball to football, baseball to even dabbling with cricket from time to time. I would also be remiss if I left out sport/activities (debatable) such as golf, table tennis, snooker (billiards), and video games.
I have a strong passion for cinema, and understanding all of what cinema has to offer. When someone asks me “who is your favourite director?” That seems to be an almost impossible question, as there are so many great auteurs to choose from. However, if forced to list a triumvirate of directors, the names would be Bergman, Scorsese, Tarantino.
Professionally, I have, and continue to work within the hospitality sector along with my work inside of the Faculty of Education at the University of Windsor. I have worked in hospitality for over ten years at some of the most iconic places in the world, including EPCOT at Walt Disney World and The Banff Springs Hotel. Within education, my research focuses on the use of open education resources (OER) in classrooms to enhance teaching and learning, and interdisciplinarity (or an interdisciplinary nature) found in educators within a higher education setting.
